Frequently Asked Questions – Puppy Socialisation Sessions with Focus Dog Behaviour and Training

Who can attend? These sessions are open to all puppies — there’s no requirement to be booked onto one of my courses. If you’ve got a young pup and want to build calm social experience early on, you’re very welcome to join.

They’re designed for puppies up to around 6 months of age.

Yes. Puppies should have had both their first and second vaccinations and be attending under their vet’s guidance. If you’re unsure, check with your vet before booking.

Yes — sessions must be booked in advance. There’s a button at the bottom of the page, and you’ll receive confirmation once your place is secured.

Yes — owners remain with their puppies throughout. All pups stay on-lead and under their handler’s supervision for the full session.

A flat collar and/or a well fitted harness with a standard lead. No flexi-leads please.

Please bring water and a bowl, and a small mat or towel for them to settle on.

Puppies will greet each other briefly if the other puppy wants to but this isn’t a free-for-all. One of the most valuable lessons they learn here is that other dogs aren’t always the main event. The environment is set up with age-appropriate equipment and sensory opportunities so your pup can build confidence, curiosity and focus in equal measure.

That’s absolutely fine. The venue is spacious, and puppies are welcome to stay close to their owner and simply observe.

Yes, children are welcome to attend with appropriate adult supervision, as outlined in the Training Terms and Conditions. Their behaviour and safety remain the responsibility of the supervising adult at all times. Children must not approach or interact with other puppies without first checking with both their supervising adult and the puppy’s handler.

Where do the sessions take place? Sessions are held at Cottingley Community Centre. It’s safe, climate-controlled, and low distraction environment, ideal for sensitive pups or those still finding their feet.
